Tiger Roll is the well-backed winner of the 2018 Grand National after narrowly beating Pleasant Company in the Aintree showdown
Twelve horses managed to complete the gruelling Grand National course on Saturday, while all forty runners and jockeys made it back safely which was the most important thing.
We witnessed an exciting finish to the race, with Tiger Roll narrowly holding on to claim victory in the world’s most famous steeplechase. Pleasant Company had looked a beaten second approaching the elbow, although the Willie Mullins-trained charge rallied on the run-in, leading to a photo finish.
Tiger Roll has previously won three times at the Cheltenham Festival, with the horse most recently claiming victory in the Cross Country Chase. Trainer Gordon Elliott cut a delighted figure after the race, not to mention the oldest jockey in the race, Davy Russell.
Bless The Wings outran his odds to finish third at odds of 40/1, while Anibale Fly came home in fourth place which added to the same horse’s third place in the Cheltenham Gold Cup which will please connections no end.
Bryony Frost was one of the three female jockeys in the race and she was delighted to finish in fifth place aboard Milansbar who provided a big return for each-way backers at odds of 25/1.
Several bookies were paying six places on the big race and Road To Riches managed to land a place in the frame at 33/1.
