Cause Of Causes shortens to 12/1 for Grand National triumph

Cause Of Causes the subject of support for the big race on Saturday 8 April

Grand National Day - Crabbie's Grand National Festival - Aintree Racecourse

We’re roughly ten days away from the 2017 Grand National and there has been plenty of movement in the betting market, with several horses now vying for favouritism,

Cause Of Causes was the winner of the Cross Country Chase at the 2017 Cheltenham Festival and bet365 now offer 12/1 about the Gordon Elliott-trained charge winning the Aintree big one on 8 April.

Cause Of Causes seems well-handicapped off 10-12 and the nine-year-old fits many trends when it comes to finding the National winner, although Ladbrokes are happy to lay the horse at odds of 16/1.

Vieux Lion Rouge remains the market leader and Stan James are particularly wary of laying the favourite, with the David Pipe horse on offer at 10/1 generally and it did little wrong when winning a Grand National trial at Haydock.

Blaklion was second in that particular race and the money continues to come for the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained horse, with bet365 going 16/1 about a winner at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival.

Definitly Red is 14/1 generally although Paddy Power go 11/1 about the winner of the Grimthorpe Stakes who is set to be well-supported on the day, not least because the horse’s name will lend itself well to supporters of Liverpool and Manchester United.

One For Arthur is a 14/1 poke and The Last Samuri is available at 16/1 after running a big race last year and looking like being part of the shake-up this time around.
